      Susan graduated from the Georgia State University Physical Therapy program in 1996. She was working in a home health setting and realized the need for therapists who specialized in children. She founded Activekidz in 2001. Susan has experience in several pediatric settings (home, school, daycare, and clinic). She is able to evaluate for orthopedic and/or neurological needs of a child. Susan enjoys running, scrapbooking, and traveling with her husband and two daughters.

      Beth graduated from University of North Georgia with a Bachelors Degree in Exercise Physiology and with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy.  She has worked with every population and age range in various clinical settings.  Beth has done outpatient pediatrics, acute care (peds and adults), outpatient neuro and ortho as well as geriatric home health. She is NDT, CPR and PEARS certified. Pediatric populations that Beth has worked with include autism spectrum, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, torticollis, developmental delay, club foot and other congenital defects as well as numerous orthopedic diagnoses and injuries. She lives in Flowery Branch and loves to spend time with family and friends, especially her five year old God-daughter ad her cousin. Beth is known as the girl who all the kids and animals love. She attends City Church Gainesville and is very active in the community through volunteer opportunities organized by the church.

      Beth graduated from the Georgia State University Physical Therapy program in May of 2002. Immediately following graduation she began working at Athens Regional Medical Center. She wanted to treat children in their natural environment so she supplemented her work at Athens Regional and began working for Activekidz in March 2004. In March 2008, her desire to work exclusively with children and the extreme flexibility of Activekidz prompted her to resign from ARMC and to work with Activekidz full time. Beth has experience in numerous Physical Therapy settings (outpatient orthopedic & neurological clinic, outpatient pediatric clinic, school, daycare, and home). Beth enjoys spending time with her family, watching Georgia football (even when they make her angry) and learning more and teaching others about Young Living Essential Oils.

      Daneille graduated with a Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy in 1993 from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. After graduation she returned to her home state of GA, settling in Atlanta. She worked at South Fulton Medical Center where she was able to get a wide range of experience including in-patient, out-patient, rehabilitation and In the NICU. Her work in the NICU was her first exposure to pediatrics. She then began to work as a traveling therapist where she continued to gain pediatric experience including in-patient rehab at Scottish Rite Hospital (now CHOA) and home health pediatrics. She was soon hired on by the home health company and focused full time on pediatrics.

      In 1998 she left her work as a physical therapist to follow another dream to be a missionary in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina. She lived and worked there for 14 years during which she met and married her husband Darko and had 2 sons, Dominik and Ian. In 2012, she returned back to the U.S to her hometown of Athens with her family and began to pursue resuming her career as a pediatric therapist. She fulfilled all of the requirements needed to get her license reinstated and is excited about working again with these special children and being a part of Activekidz.

      Theresa has been practicing PT for 22 years.  She moved to Georgia 4 years ago and has had the privilege of working with patients as new as a few hours old and as old as 100 years!!  Theresa has 2 amazing children, Jessica and Jake, and she has recently re-married to a wonderful man named Scott whom she met at Conyers Vineyard Church.  When Theresa is not watching her daughter perform at varsity football games or assistant coaching her son’s baseball team she volunteers her time as secretary for her community pool, CFO for her church and CFO and executive board member for Exceptional Kids Athletics (a non-profit organization providing sports for special needs kid

      Janet has been a PT for over 30 years, specializing in Pediatrics, Chronic Pain, Women’s Health, Myofascial Release and Craniosacral Therapy. Janet is from Michigan, where she had her own practice. She moved to GA 3 years ago and loves it! Janet has 4 sons in 4 different states. She has 4 grandchildren under 5. Janet spends a lot of time and has great fun with her 2 and 3 year old granddaughters who she lives by. Her sister has lived with her for the past year. Janet has volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club for the last 6 months doing motor activities with a group of boys, mainly just playing. She has been to Honduras 8 times on Medical mission trips and has helped start an orphanage.

      Tricia graduated from James Madison University, in Virginia, in 2008 with a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy and a minor in Special Education (non-teaching). She started her career in Florida where she worked in a general rehabilitation center that was designated as a NDT center of excellence. Tricia further specialized when she moved to Atlanta to work at the Shepherd Center, on the adolescent spinal cord injury team. There she completed research on adolescent injuries and published one of her papers in the Occupational Therapy magazine. Tricia has presented at middle and high schools to increase awareness and prevention of injury, and also to ease the transition for current patients back into their school environment. She has also presented workshops, lectures, and posters at conferences nationally and internationally.
      After getting married in early 2018, Tricia moved to the Athens area and is excited to be working with the pediatric population with Activekidz.

      Zoe graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Following graduation, she gained pediatric experience in a variety of settings including hospital, outpatient, school and home care. Zoe has also gained experience in geriatric home health care and has centered her practice on the well being of her patients. Zoe enjoys playing softball, reading and spending quality time with her husband, good friends and her chocolate lab, Sammie.

      Brooke graduated from Piedmont College in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then received her Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2016 from the University of North Georgia. Brooke gained experience in pediatrics through student volunteer efforts during PT school. After graduation, she began working with geriatrics in a skilled nursing facility. She is now excited to begin an adventure in pediatric rehabilitation with ActiveKidz, working with a variety of neurologic and orthopedic diagnoses. During her free time, Brooke enjoys being outdoors, coaching soccer and spending time with her dogs and cat.

      Victoria graduated with a Master’s of Science in Occupational Therapy in 2009 from Florida International University. Following graduation, she gained 5 years pediatric experience in home health care as well as experience as the Occupational Therapy Director for the same home health company. In 2014, Victoria relocated to Georgia where she continued to gain pediatric experience as an OT for the Newton County School System with children of all ages and a variety of diagnoses. She is excited to be a part of the Activekidz family. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 7 pets (a big dog, 4 cats and 2 chickens), and enjoying any of her many hobbies including yoga, photography, carpentry and remodeling her home.

      Shelley Flemming is a recent graduate of Belmont University in Nashville, Tn. where she earned her doctoral degree in occupational therapy. While in graduate school, she completed an extensive research project on inclusive playground design and she is passionate about sharing with communities on the importance of providing playgrounds that can be used by children of ALL abilities. She has served as a volunteer for several years for Buddy Break, a program that provides free respite care services for children with disabilities and their families. Her interests include cooking, reading, and spending time with her husband and 3 dogs.

      Ashlyn graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina with a Masters in Occupational Therapy. She was first exposed to pediatric therapy as a teenager going to work with her mother, a physical therapist. She then spent countless hours volunteering in a variety of settings including hospital, home health, hippotherapy, outpatient and schools. She is very excited to be a part of the Activekidz team. Ashlyn recently married and moved to the Athens area. She enjoys crafting, crocheting, hiking and visiting friends and family.

      Becky has a bachelors degree from the University of Georgia and a masters in Occupational Therapy from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. She has a heart for kids of all ages and loves her occupation. She has spent most of her career specializing in neurological disorders, primarily cerebral palsy, practicing with the Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT) approach. She became NDT certified in 2015. Becky has helped plan and manage the Tri My Best Triathlon, a triathlon for kids with special needs the past 5 years in Augusta, GA. She now lives in Watkinsville with her husband and enjoys being outdoors, working on crafts, sewing, and being with friends and family.

      Dr. Kennedy has 18 years of experience, specializing in pediatrics, with particular emphasis in the areas of autism, developmental disabilities and sensory processing disorders. She received her Doctorate from Rocky Mountain University in 2011. She has treated all ages of pediatric patients in the NICU, hospital, outpatient, school and home settings. Dr. Kennedy’s experience also includes being a part of the quality assurance board for the Greater Metropolitan Easter Seals 0-3 program, Illinois State Early Intervention Specialist, Master Trainer for the Illinois Inclusion project. In addition she has served as an Associate Professor for Chicago State University for 4 years where some of her duties included teaching both undergraduate and graduate level students in Occupational Therapy and serving as the Principal Researcher on University projects in the College of Health and Sciences. In addition, she has had the privilege of being invited to numerous workshops and professional events involving strategies for managing Autism in the school and home environment. Dr. Kennedy has completed one children’s book on autism that is set to be released toward the end of this year.

      Crystal is a recent graduate of The University of Saint Augustine, San Diego campus, with a masters in Occupational Therapy. Crystal recently moved to Royston, Ga from Visalia, CA and is loving life here on the east coast. Crystal Originally started school to pursue a career as a physical therapist, she soon shadowed an occupational therapist and instantly knew that was the career path for her. She has gained experience in hippotherapy through school and volunteering and looks forward to expanding that knowledge and experience in the future. Crystal enjoys horseback riding, archery, outdoors and spending time with her boyfriend Christopher, his son Noah, and their 2 Australian cattle dogs.

      Katie is a recent graduate of Brenau University with a Master’s in Occupational Therapy. Prior to Brenau, she attended Emmanuel College where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science. Katie has been passionate about occupational therapy from a young age and she is very excited about her opportunities at Activekidz. Katie grew up in Carnesville, GA and loves that she is able to stay close to home and begin her career. She is a proud dog mom to her miniature dashund, and loves to spend time with her four nieces. Katie also enjoys running and being outdoors.

      Andrea is a Georgia native who graduated with a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Brenau University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Georgia State. Through education and volunteering, Andrea has experience in a variety of settings including acute care, orthopedics, skilled nursing, home health care, mental health, early intervention and outpatient pediatrics. Andrea believes in working hard; however, she knows that having fun is just as important for good health! Andrea lives in Loganville and is a proud mom to her daughter, Paloma, who fills her life with joy and laughter. Andrea’s many interests include arts and crafts, reading, dancing, traveling, being outdoors and spending time with friends and family. Andrea takes pride in developing supportive therapeutic relationships with individuals and their loved ones and is very excited to be a part of the Activekidz team.

      Laurie graduated from Colorado State University in 1999 with her degree in Occupational Therapy. She has experience in a variety of settings including inpatient, outpatient, rehabilitation, home health and education. She loves working with children and has 13 years of experience working in schools. Laurie’s interests include hiking, biking, cooking and spending time with family, friends and her dog named Rowdy.

      Jessica graduated from the University of Georgia in 2011 with bachelor’s degrees in English and English Education. After teaching English to high school students, while earning her first master’s degree in Secondary Education from Georgia College and State University, she returned to the University of Georgia to earn a second master’s degree in Communication and Sciences and Disorders in 2017. She has worked in the school setting to provide speech-language therapy to elementary-age students with a variety of disorders, including articulation, fluency, and language disorders, as well as students with Augmentative and Alternate Communication (AAC) needs, autism, and intellectual disability. She is a member of the Georgia Speech-Language Hearing Association as well as the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. She enjoys traveling and hiking with her husband, running and reading.

      Molly attended Arkansas State University for her undergraduate degree and graduated with her Master’s Degree from the University of Central Florida in 2001.  Molly has worked in a wide variety of settings, including private practice, hospitals, rehab centers and schools.  She has experience with feeding disorders, speech and language disorders, sensory integration disorders and early language development.  Molly lives in Madison County with her husband and twins.  She enjoys reading, scrapbooking, being outdoors and traveling.

She has experience in a variety of settings including: schools, home health care, acute care and skilled nursing. Rachel enjoys working with individuals of all ages. She currently lives in the Athens area with her husband, David, and their six (yes, six—3 chickens, 2 dogs, 1 cat) pets.

      Laura Beth Guest is a speech language pathologist. She attended the University of Georgia and the Medical University of South Carolina to obtain her Masters in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Laura Beth has worked in both the school system and hospital settings before joining the team at ActiveKidz. She lives in Athens with her husband and two sons. Laura Beth enjoys painting and spending time with her family. Being a pediatric speech language pathologist is very rewarding for Laura Beth and she finds great joy in helping children.

      Jennifer received her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Disorders from Florida State University and her Master’s from Louisiana State University. She has been an active speech therapist for over 17 years, treating children and adults from 3 to over 90 years old. Jennifer’s areas of special interest include fluency, or stuttering, language and learning disorders, literacy based treatment approaches, and incorporating rhythm and music into therapeutic activities. She has a range of experience with many adult and pediatric disorders. Jennifer lives with her family in a yurt in Colbert, Georgia, where she loves to feel like she is camping everyday. Her other interests include travel, painting, dance, writing, reading,and spending time with her beloved family.

      Aby is originally from the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico. Spanish is her first language but English quickly became her primary language after her family moved to the U.S. when she was 8 years-old. Aby graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders in 2003 and from the University of Georgia with a Master’s degree in Communication Disorders in 2005. Since then, she has worked in outpatient and acute care settings, as well as in a private clinic and have served patients of all ages and multiple abilities. Aby was married to her husband in 2005 and they currently live in Watkinsville with their three children. Their family is very active at our church in Athens, Campus View, where she currently serves as one of the Children’s Ministry Coordinators. In 2013 Aby decided to stay home full-time when her third child was born. The baby is now in pre-k, so she is excited to be able to resume practicing her career as a speech therapist and feel blessed to be able to do so with Active Kidz!

      Stacey is an ASHA certified speech-language pathologist. She received her Master’s degree from Appalachian State University in 2010. Since graduating, Stacey has worked with both pediatrics and adults, gaining experience in a variety of settings including private practice, skilled nursing facility, rehab hospital, and schools. Originally from North Carolina, Stacey and her husband Brandon relocated to Athens, GA in 2012. They welcomed their daughter in May 2016. Stacey loves spending time with family, being outdoors, coloring, trying new foods and traveling!

      Tiana Smith is from Akron, OH. She graduated from the University of Akron with an undergraduate degree in Family Child Development and a Masters in Speech Therapy. Tiana has worked with children and families as an advocate and a service provider over the past 10 years. In 2013, Tiana relocated to Atlanta with her husband and 2 boys. Tiana enjoys being a Speech Therapist and has worked in various settings including birth-3 programs, elementary, middle and high school, nursing homes and home health settings.

      Sara Thrash graduated from Valdosta State University in 2012 with a Master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Since graduating, Sara has enjoyed working with the pediatric population and has treated a variety of speech and language disorders. She loves that working at Activekidz gives her the ability to interact and work closely with her patients’ families, which she believes greatly impacts progress. Sara lives in Athens with her Chihuahua, Bear, and enjoys spending time with family, eating good food, traveling and attending UGA football games.

      Michelle was born in Colorado and a part of a military family. They spent time in California and Tennessee before settling in Georgia in 1995 where she has since resided. After graduating from Athens Christian School with Honors, Michelle went on to Athens Technical College taking classes in Medical and Business. She is a wife and mother of two. She has worked in the medical field for 12 years and enjoys spending time with her family, cooking and reading.

      Tonia is a native of Georgia. She’s a wife and mother to 4 busy kids. There’s never a dull moment with two girls and two boys. On the weekends, Tonia enjoys watching her kids play sports including lacrosse, travel basketball and all-star cheerleading.  She loves the beach and Disney World, and in her spare time enjoys crafting and cheering on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Before coming to ActiveKidz, Tonia was a stay at home mom for 13 years. Her family enjoys spending time and volunteering at church.

      Marianne is a graduate of the University of Georgia and Piedmont College with a Bachelor and Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught kindergarten for 30 years in Madison County school district. She retired in June 2015 and joined Activekidz in January 2016. She lives in Colbert with her husband,Matt, and she enjoys reading, shopping, and spending time with her family. She has two grown daughters, Kaitlin and Cortney, and a granddaughter, Scarlett that helped her decide to retire so they could spend more time together!

      Pam has worked in the medical field for more than 25 years. She has been with Activekidz since February 2015. She works in our Loganville office 3 days a week. Pam stays very busy as she is the wife and mother of 2 active children; Gabe, 16 and Emma 12. As if running from Soccer games to Cross Country meets to football games & cheerleading competitions were not enough, she is also very involved at her church, their activities and children’s program. She looks forward to her “girls night” she has regularly with her friends of over 20 years.

      Dena is a graduate of Anderson University, Anderson, S.C and Brenau Women’s College, Gainesville, GA with a degree from both schools in Fashion Merchandising & Marketing. She has worked in many aspects of the fashion industry from Visual Merchandising to an Account Executive with Tommy Hilfiger. She was also the membership director at Pebble Creek golf course in Greenville, S.C. and Sponsorship Director for the Town of Mt. Pleasant in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. Dena is married to the love of her life and they have a son and a daughter which keep them extremely busy. She was a stay at home mom for many years before joining Activekidz. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and playing golf. They are also involved in their church.

      Penny was a stay-home mom for 16 years before becoming a member of the Activekidz family! She is a Mississippi native, but moved to Georgia five years ago from Arkansas (go HOGS)! Penny has a ton of hobbies, but her favorites are sewing, crocheting, camping and hunting.  Her newest hobby is learning how to forage for wild edibles, especially mushrooms! Penny is married to her soul-mate Joey, and they have 3 children, 5 pets and 2 grandpets.

      Jill is a wife and mother of 2 college students. She was a stay at home mom for 15 years while working in the direct sales industry. Jill attended West Georgia College and Georgia State University. Jill is a big UGA Gymdog fan as her husband, Phil is an assistant coach with the Gymdogs. She is a Georgia native and loves living in the Athens area. She has been with Activekidz since Jan 2014.
